How do you apply for an Innovator visa?

The Innovator visa application process requires you to submit your application and business plan 3 months before you intend to arrive in the UK. You will also have to pay the application and health surcharge fees in advance.

In most cases the Home Office will deliver a decision within 3 weeks, although this can vary depending on the country you are applying from. If your application is successful, the visa will be valid for 3 years.

You may be able to extend your visa for a further 3 years once the original visa has expired and there is no limit on how many times you can extend it.

The Innovator visa offers a route towards Indefinite Leave to Remain status, which you can apply for after 5 years in the UK. You can become eligible to apply for British citizenship after 6 years – this can be reduced to 3 years if you are married to a British citizen.
